Description
This little Stile is right next to the main road between St.Ives & Zennor but due to the foliage round it it is hidden and surprisingly very tranquil given its close proximity to the road. I had an idea of what I wanted to achieve with it being inspired by a Newlyn painting I had seen, not of a Stile but there was something about the shape and colours I liked.
It took about 3 visits to get the right time of day & light as it can become very quickly shrouded in dense shadows, the Blackthorn blossom was so amazing, everywhere along this stretch was just bursting with colour, but Blackthorn is very delicate and so usually never lasts for more than a week so I had to be quick.
The intricate details of the foliage and blossom was areal challenge & to have the added view of the sea is something I really enjoyed painting
