Description
“Autumn Twilight, Stippy Stappy” is a painting i’ve had an idea of for quite a while but gathering the reference can be tricky, for this I have to stand in the road at Twilight to get some images and being Twilight at that time of year at the time of day means there is usually quite a bit of traffic, yes little sleepy St.Agnes can have its own mini rush hour, so there was a a lot of hoping in and out of the road but in the end I got some good reference.
I have painted Stippy Stappy a number of times and always throws me back to a time gone by when these cottages were used by Captains of the local mines, I wanted to achieve a calm stillness to the painting and so it took a lot of work in getting the colours and tonal range balanced as I didn’t want one part jumping out more than any other as well capturing all the detail, I went through a lot of my tiny brushes to achieve the detail but I’m very happy to have achieved the final outcome 🙂 Future potential works for Stippy Stappy are Daffodils and when the Bluebells spring into life 🙂
