Boulder Opals

These opals have been mined from Western Queensland, Australia. The Boulder Opal is a unique stone where the opal silica has collected in the cracks of Iron Stone and Sand Stone forming these mystical pieces over thousands of years. She can also have fossilised wood within the stone as well. The Aborigines believed the opal to be rays of sunshine that have been caught in the ground. The opal is also said to have a calming influence on the wearer. Whatever you believe she is just simply a beautiful stone to wear. I carefully hand pick the stones I want to work from direct from the miner who visits us from Australia, it is such an exciting process to see what new stones I can work with, every visit is a unique experience
